Memoirs of a Geisha

Is a novel by Arthur Golden, published in 1997. The novel tells the story of a geisha working in Kyoto before the Second World War.

The protagonist, Chiyo and her older sister Satsu, live in a town on the shores of the Seaof Japan, Yoroido. Are taken to Gion by a man named Mr. Bekuo. Satsu is sold to a brothel and Chiyo to an okiya (a geisha house).
Chiyo is befriended by Pumpkin, a girl who was a few months older than her. After several years, Pumpkin becomes Hatsumomo's younger sister and because of this, Hatsumomoforbidden to speak to Chiyo.
Because of their unusual eyes, blue-gray, Chiyo will become Geisha, despite the rivalry ofHatsumomo, the only current geisha Nitta okiyaThe arrogant Hatsumomo Chiyo warnspotential because it represents a potential competition. Chiyo is reduced to the role ofservant of the okiya, losing his chance to become geisha because of the machinations ofHatsumomo.
His brief encounter with President manages to change his luck...
It's a great story ... telling the hard "adventure" of this young girl, which has a hidden and forbidden love but eventually managed to find a happy ending after so much sadness.


the story was so successful that the movie was created... winning film is an Academy Award and Grammy, adapted from the novel of the same name, produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Rob Marshall. In a production of Amblin Entertainment and Red Wagon Entertainment and stars Zhang Ziyi, Ken Watanabe, Gong Li, Michelle Yeoh, Randall Duk Kim, Youki Kudoh and Suzuka Ohgo. Ohgo plays the girl Sayuri in the film, which was filmed in California and several locations in Kyoto, including the Kiyomizu Temple and Fushimi Inari-Taisha.

A being who emanates such power of seduction and such force that for the first time, makes her feel protected. At the same time, offers the promise of a strange, terrible and fascinating, for all eternity.

Tenses
In English there are four key times: past, present and future and conditional. These three times are combined with three aspects (imperfective, continuous, perfective) aspect combinations possible are four ([-perf] [-cont] [-perf] [-cont] [-perf] [-cont] and [-perf] [-cont]). The combinanciones earlier appearance time and result in a significant number of tenses:
Syntactically simple lack of auxiliary and which include the following:
Simple non-continuous: Present simple, recognizable for not wearing TAM suffixes to the root; Past simple, including a last mark of the root, usually-ed in regular verbs, and may include umlaut-in and even in verbs irregular or pounding; Future simple, regularly marked by an auxiliary (will, Marshall or the negative), Conditional, regularly marked the last time Would auxiliary (or negative).
Continuous, generally equivalent to "auxiliary (be) + gerund" in Spanish, denote actions that are being made at the time it is spoken. Morphologically times ending in-ing continuous: Present continuous, continuous Past
Compounds that denote completed actions and therefore perfective aspect:
Compounds non-continuous: Present perfect, Past perfect, Future perfect.
Continuous, similar to the simple continuous: Present perfect continuous, Past perfect continuous
